The NSW Barefoot Water Ski Club is a division of the Australian Barefoot Water Ski Club known as Barefoot Water Ski Australia.
Our primary mission is to organise, develop and promote the sport of Barefoot Water Skiing, for all levels, from the social weekend warrior with Come and Try clinics through to national and international competition.
The Club was formed at Sackville NSW in 1960 and has operated continuously at various locations in NSW over the years.
The NSW Barefoot Water Ski Club currently operates from the Georges River at Helles Park in Moorebank, NSW. The site has been home to many Australian and World Champions including Gizzie Hallasz, Donna Schmidt, Colleen Thompson (Wilkinson), Kenny Derry Jnr, Keenan Derry, Tim Failes, Robert Blaauw, Dodd Dwyer, John Pennay, Brenton Crouch, Nathan Forge, and Gavan Beattie.
The club has hosted two World Championships at Helles Park, the first in 1994 with Australian John Pennay winning the Overall Championship, and the second time in 1998. We have also hosted a number of National and Asian Australasian Championships and most recently the 2015/16 National Championships with 100 skiers competing.
The NSW Barefoot Waterski Club’s goal is to be the “Centre of Excellence” in Barefoot Water Skiing in Australia by creating a friendly environment for people to learn and develop as a skier or official in the sport. We host all types of activities from “Come and Try” days where people can experience Barefoot Water Skiing for the first time, Judges and Officials clinics through to National and International competitions.
The club ha recently been award the 2020 World Barefoot Water Ski Championships to be held at Helles Park Liverpool. This is a tremendous honour and we hope to replicate the success of the World Championships we hosted in 1994 and 1998. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
