Welcome to the NSWBWSC. Our Club currently operates from the banks of the Georges River at Helles Park in Moorebank (near Liverpool) New South Wales. Our site has been home to many of our sports current and previous Australian and World Champions including Dodd Dwyer, John Pennay, Robert Blaauw, Brenton Crouch, Nathan Forge, Tim Failes, Gavan Beattie, Gizzie Hallasz, Donna Schmidt and Colleen Thompson (formerly Wilkinson).
Our Club has a proud history of producing exceptional skiers as we are lucky enough to have access to one of the best wind protected stretches of water in the world for Barefoot Waterskiing.
The site as it is today was discovered by Nick Hunt and Graeme Dwyer. The early days were tough; there was a lot of red tape to get the site compliant, including the removal of rubbish and dumped cars from the river, so it was safe enough to ski. A boat ramp and club house were erected to store our boats and equipment. The forefathers of this club which include the likes of Graeme Dwyer, Nick Hunt and Sam Pace laid a great platform for the future growth and success of the Club.
In 1994 the worlds best barefooters converged on Moorebank and we hosted our first World Championships. Local Champ John Pennay eventually took out the Overall and Trick title and dominated a star studded field which included the likes of Ron Scarpa, Lane Bowers and Brett Sands. Moorebank hosted the World Championships again in 1998. We have also hosted a number of National and Asian Australisian Championships and we are lucky enough to be hosting the 2010 Nationals April 6th to 11th.
NSWBWSC's goal is to be the premier Barefoot Waterski Club in Australia by promoting a team and family based environment where we can collaberate and work hard together to ensure the longjevity of the club and pass it on to the next generation of skiers; we also aim to advance the skill level of all of our skiing club members by providing access to great boats, great coaching, great water and opportunities to ski in local and national competitions.
On behalf of all of our club members, thanks for visiting our website, we hope you can join us out on the water sometime soon!
